Get your popcorn ready because the show is about to begin! Welcome to the Summer Screen at Suffolk Downs, a pop-up drive-in movie series every Thursday night this summer starting July 16th. Purchase a ticket online ahead of time and come experience a nostalgic night at the drive-in with some of your favorite flicks. Movies will begin around 8:30 pm in the Suffolk Downs Clubhouse parking lot. Pack your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages or come hungry and visit one of our food trucks for some sweet treats. Vehicles will be spaced out for social distancing and masks are required in common areas. We look forward to a summer of safe and cinematic fun with you!

The health and safety of our team members and attendees is of utmost importance. Therefore, the following policies and procedures have been put in place to keep The Summer Screen at Suffolk Downs safe, secure, and sustainable through COVID-19 reopening phases:

FAQs

Are you required to follow the Massachusetts COVID-19 safety guidelines?

  • Yes, all of our event staff, food truck vendors, and attendees must follow safety guidelines at all times.
  • All guests must practice 6 feet social distancing and wear a mask or face covering at all times if you are outside of your vehicle.
  • All staff must follow strict worker guidelines, go through safety training, wear applicable PPE, and remain 6 feet away from other staff members at all times.
  • All vehicles will be parked to accommodate 6 feet between each car.

Will the staff be wearing personal protective equipment?

  • Yes, all drive-in staff is required to wear a mask at all times.
  • Gloves will also be available for staff that need to come in contact with attendees.

Can I bike, take the T, or walk to the event?

  • All attendees must enter the event in a vehicle. There will not be an area for viewing for anyone not in a vehicle and all audio will only be streamed through FM transmitter services inside your vehicle.

How do I purchase a ticket?

How many people can I bring in my vehicle?

  • We allow a maximum of 6 people per vehicle.

Can I save a parking spot next to mine for my friend?

  • No parking spaces will be saved. All parking will be first come, first serve in the order they arrive at the entrance. If you want to park next to someone you know, we recommend you meet up before arriving at Suffolk Downs so you can pull in together.

Can I get out of my car throughout the show?

  • You must stay within your vehicle during the show unless you are using the restroom or visiting a food truck.
  • You cannot sit outside of, on top of, or picnic outside of your car at any time.

Will there be food available for purchase?

  • Yes, we will have food trucks at the venue so you can purchase food and beverages to bring back to your vehicle.
  • All food trucks will offer mobile food ordering and have clearly marked social distance spaces for picking up your food.
  • No alcohol will be sold or allowed to be consumed at the venue.

Can I bring my own food?

  • Yes, you can bring your own food with you in your car.
  • There will be trash barrels throughout the site for you to throw away any takeout containers, trash, etc.

Can I bring alcohol?

  • Alcohol is not permitted at the event and we will enforce a strict zero tolerance policy.
  • Event staff will be patrolling the lot throughout to ensure compliance.
  • We can ask you to leave at any time should you violate the zero-tolerance policy.
  • All situations violating the policy or non-compliance with event staff will be immediately reported to law enforcement.

Do you have restrooms?

  • Yes, we will have three areas with portable restrooms and handwashing stations.
  • Restrooms will be sanitized after each use and deep cleaned after each event.
  • At least one unit in each restroom area will be ADA compliant for handicap use.

Can we get there late or leave early?

  • We suggest that you arrive 30-60 minutes before show time.
  • All drive lanes will be kept clear for emergency access at any time throughout the show should you need to leave early.

Are you responsible for damage to my car or lost/stolen items?

  • We are not responsible for any damages to your car should any accident occur at the event.
  • We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items at the event.
  • We recommend you properly secure your vehicle should you need to leave to use the restroom or visit a food truck.

What if my car dies or I need road service?

  • We will have a car battery pack available at the venue to jump your car if needed. Please flag down a team member to ask for assistance.
  • If your car requires more than a jump or our battery pack does not work for your car, you are responsible for finding your own road service. We ask that any towing or servicing take place after the show to mitigate disturbance to the other guests.

Are motorcycles allowed?

  • In order to comply with City of Boston COVID-19 related health and safety guidelines, motorcycles are not allowed.

Will there be security monitoring the lot?

  • Yes, event staff will be monitoring the lot to make sure you are following all rules and regulations and abiding by the COVID-19 safety guidelines.
  • If the event staff feels as though you are not following the rules or are a risk to the other attendees, you may be asked to leave.

Are movies available in other languages?

  • Movies cannot be translated through the FM transmitter service as the audio source is hooked up directly to the movie being shown.
  • The Summer Screen at Suffolk Downs’ aim is to curate a collection of movies as diverse as the community of East Boston and surrounding communities. We believe our selections will satisfy various ages, audiences, and cultures.
